Chelan County residents are being targeted in latest scam

Scammers are actively calling Chelan County residents, saying they failed to appear for jury duty and they have a fine to pay.
One recent scammer even said he’d meet the potential victim at the Chelan County Courthouse.
Just a reminder: Chelan County officials will NEVER call you, demanding money or to meet you outside the courthouse to turn over money.
If you are a candidate for jury duty, the Chelan County Superior Court’s Office sends you a letter in the mail, with the appropriate information and contacts. (No phone calls are made, no money is involved.)
What do you do if you are a target of such a scam?
Hang up! Do not release any personal information or purchase any pre-paid cash cards, or send any type of payment. Do not meet up with these callers. Do not call them back.
