Cause of fire is under investigation

Late Wednesday morning a fast moving fire broke out at the City of Chelan owned recycle facility. There was also significant fire damage at an adjacent open air covered attachment that houses the Rotary operated glass recycling operation.
City officials reported shortly after the fire started that all employees in the area of the fire were safely evacuated. Highway 97-A in the area of the fire was closed to traffic for a brief period of time.
The two-alarm fire was responded to by fire departments from Chelan, Manson, Orondo, and Wenatchee Valley. Chief Brandon Asher reports that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
