Cool morning temperatures might alter start times of paving project scheduled to begin June 18, but will not postpone it
information released
A stretch of US 2 from milepost 128 to milepost 130 will undergo a wheel-path chip seal on Tuesday, June 18 but the schedule for that day might be affected by the fluctuating temperatures of the day.
Chip sealing requires a specific range of temperatures, (60 degrees Fahrenheit or above), dry conditions (pavement temperature of 55 degrees or higher) and low wind (below 10 miles per hour) to allow for materials to stick, and if the early-morning weather proves too cold, it might push the start time for later in the day.
Work will go from the intersection of US 2/97 and SR 28 to the roundabout near the intersection of US 2/97 and Enterprise Drive, nine miles south of Orondo.
Work is scheduled to run from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Travelers should exercise patience and caution, as they will encounter delays, loose gravel on the roadway, and flagger-controlled traffic.
Updates on traffic control will be posted on the real-time travel map
