At 11:45 Saturday morning, Chelan Fire and Rescue responded to a brush fire near Davis Canyon Road along US 97A.
Our first arriving unit reported a brush fire growing rapidly uphill, driven by strong winds. Crews quickly began extinguishing the fire, focusing efforts near the home that was close to the point of origin. Fortunately, the winds were driving the fire mostly away from the house.
A second alarm was called immediately, which brought resources in from Manson, Entiat, Orono, and Wenatchee to assist with fighting the blaze. Engines and supervisors from Washington State DNR arrived on the scene quickly and joined in the effort. Chelan County Sheriff Deputies were also on the scene, keeping firefighters safe by monitoring vehicle traffic through the fire area.
At this time, the cause of the fire is under investigation. The fire grew to approximately 2 acres before being brought under control.
A helicopter from the Wenatchee Valley Fire Department was also requested and arrived on the scene, but it was not used because ground resources brought the fire under control.
