Gusty Winds Hamper Chelan Golf League Match at Home

Chelan Golf hosted our second league match Tuesday, 4/16. It looked to be a sunny day, however, the winds were quite gusty up there, creating some difficult golf conditions.

Carson Clinton (10) was the individual leader, with a score of 73. He shot even par on the front and 1 over on the back. Carson was able to drive the ball well despite the windy conditions, but struggled a bit with his putter, making a score of 73 that much more impressive.

Chase Woodley (12) shot a total score of 104, with a 54 on the front and a 50 on the back. This is a season low for him, so his work at practice is definitely paying off. Chase finished with 9 bogeys and 2 pars, along with a few tough holes. His back 9 was much more consistent than his front 9, showing resilience and determination to bounce back from the tough holes.

Our other team scorers that rounded out the top 18-hole scores were from Tev Uttech (9) and Hyuan Otom (9). Tev is new to golf this season and is already showing such great improvements. He always has a positive attitude and is putting in the time to work on his fundamentals, which is showing in his scores. Tev had a score of 114, which is a season low for him! Hyuan Otom had a score of 108, which is also a season low for him. Hyuan has been working through some elbow issues, but after making some adjustments to his swing in practice, he came out yesterday feeling confident.

Our boys team got the win against Quincy with a team score of 399 to 446! Some had good days and some had bad days, but they are starting to get the hang of it and are realizing that practicing really does matter.

We were unable to put up a team score for the girls team since we have 2 eligible golfers. Quincy girls had a team score of 519 and brought 8 golfers. It was awesome to see a program with that many girls, so hopefully we can be there someday too!

Jailyn Reinhart (12) shot a 130 with some good holes and bad holes. Jailyn is working hard in practice and is going through some swing adjustments, so we are looking forward to her improvements in the next few matches. Alexa Padilla (10) played her first 9-hole round and shot a score of 80. She played with a few other new players from Quincy, so it was a good chance for her to practice and learn.

Our next 4 matches are league matches, followed by Senior Night on 5/2. Following that, we will play a practice round 5/8 at Alta Lake prior to the CTL tournament on 5/15.
