KING 5 Holds Annual “Best Northwest Escapes” Competition

Each year, KING 5 Evening Show holds the Best Northwest Escapes – an on-air and online competition that earns a winner’s crown and bragging rights based upon individual votes.

There are 20 different categories – each having to do with relaxation, adventure and getting away – with voting for each category staggered over several weeks. Attractions and businesses in the Lake Chelan Valley are (or were) a contender in six of the 20 categories including Best Beach, Best Resort, Best State Park, Best Destination Winery, Best Getaway Town and Best Bucket List Experience.

The Beach at Lake Chelan State Park was one of five contenders for “Best Beach”. Voting closed earlier this month with Ruby Beach in Olympic National Park earning the top spot.

Voting also recently closed in the Best Resort category where Campbell’s Resort on Lake Chelan is one of the five nominees. Campbell’s has been nominated several times in the category and has won top honors four times, the last being in 2016.

Clint Campbell attributes the nomination and winning track record to their caliber of staff. “It’s really a testimony to our awesome staff that we’re nominated again this year,” said Campbell. “They’re the best.”

Although voting has closed for Best Beach and Best Resort Categories, there’s still time for you to make your vote count in support of four remaining categories where Lake Chelan is a nominee.

  • Voting opens today through next Tuesday, May 1, for Best State Park. Lake Chelan State Park is one of the nominees in this category.
  • Nefarious Cellars of Chelan has been nominated in the category of Best Destination Winery. The voting for this category is open Wednesday, April 25 thru Thursday, May 3.
  • The Lady of the Lake cruise to Stehekin has been nominated for Best Bucket List Experience. Votes will be collected in this category for one week from Friday, May 4 thru Friday, May 11.
  • The entire community of Chelan is one of five nominated for Best Getaway Town. The voting window for this category starts on Monday, April 30 thru Monday, May 7.
