Public invited to Sneak Peak viewing on October 24

It’s been a long wait, but Lake Chelan Health EMS has begun the process of replacing its outdated fleet of emergency vehicles. The department recently took delivery of two new vehicles with the latest cutting edge features. One is a full size Type 1 ambulance and the other is a transport van.
EMS Director Ray Eichmeyer says eventually the entire aging fleet will be updated with four additional new vehicles. The current EMS vehicle fleet features units as old as 30 years with the newest being 10 years old, and all have in excess of 200,000 miles on them. The transport van included in the recent delivery was completely funded by a grant. Other units will be paid for by funding that was approved by voters in a levy election.
Eichmeyer said that down the road, a plan is in place to located one of the older EMS vehicles to Stehekin where two paramedics and three EMT’s live full time.
The public is invited to an up close look at the new EMS vehicles on Tuesday, October 24 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the hospital located at 110 South Apple Blossom Drive.
Eichmeyer says the “sneak peak” event “gives the public an opportunity to explore the wonders of these life saving machines and to get to know the incredible heroes who operate them”.
