Driver extricated from the vehicle and transported to Lake Chelan Health

Friday afternoon an auto accident was reported in Orondo 2 miles up McNeil Canyon Road. On arrival firefighters found a semi and trailer through the guardrail and over a steep embankment. Both the semi tractor and trailer were ripped apart with a load of apples spilling down the canyon. The driver of the semi was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Lake Chelan Health with serious injuries.
Fire units on scene secured the vehicle that had an environmental spill and arching electrical components.
McNeil Canyon Road was closed for a short time and will be closed later today or at a later time when the semi and trailer are pulled from the canyon.
Eleven emergency Responders were on scene from Orondo Fire, LCH Ambulance and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff is investigating the cause of the accident.
