Road Projects with Travel Impacts
- Goodwin Road/Sunset Road Improvement Project: A joint project of Chelan County and the City of Cashmere, work begins May 22. KRCI is the project’s contractor. Motorists should plan for one-lane, flagger-controlled traffic in the work area, which is on Goodwin Road from the new West Cashmere Bridge south to Sunset Highway and east on Sunset Highway to the Cashmere Mill District. Improvements include a wider roadway, curb and gutter, sidewalk, illumination, bike lanes, planter strips and landscaping. The project will take 100 days, wrapping up in mid-October. The project includes a 30-day detour coming in June, with the detour ending by the July 4th holiday weekend. Businesses will have access off of Mill Street for their customers. Information about the project is on the project’s webpage.
- Bridge inspection on West Monitor Bridge: A contractor for Chelan County Public Works will be inspecting the historic West Monitor Bridge on May 16-17. The West Monitor Bridge is a one-lane bridge located just west of Monitor, crossing the Wenatchee River. Passers-by may see a crew climbing the structure during inspections. The work is considered routine and is part of the regularly scheduled work performed on bridges around Chelan County.
- Chip sealing starts June 5: The 2023 chip sealing season is about to kick off. This spring, county road crews have been prepping roads scheduled for preservation. That includes brooming, patching and crack sealing. For a list of roads scheduled for chip sealing and pre-level work, go to our website.
District 1 (Wenatchee)
The crew will finish crack sealing in the West Eagle Rock Drive and West Eagle Rock Place area. When crack sealing, the roadway is at one lane, with flaggers directing traffic. Plan for minor traffic delays in the work zone.
District 2 (Cashmere)
The crew will be cleaning catch basins and cutting brush throughout the district. The crew also will be patching potholes.
District 3 (Leavenworth)
The crew will be crack sealing on White River Road and High Mountain Meadows Road. Motorists should plan for one-lane, flagger-controlled traffic in the work zone.
District 4 (Entiat)
The county crew will be grading on Crumb Canyon Road. The crew also will be repairing guardrail and patching the road at milepost 24 on Entiat River Road, where a rockslide damaged the roadway this spring. Be alert for a Chelan PUD crew working in the Entiat Valley. The work zones are one lane with flaggers directing traffic. Plan for minor traffic delays if you come upon a PUD crew.
District 5 (Chelan)
The crew will be grading primitive roads and brushing in the Boyd Road and Manson areas. In Manson, the crew will be repairing potholes, cleaning culverts and finishing crack sealing. If you come upon a county road crew crack sealing, plan for one-lane, flagger-controlled traffic. Lower your speeds through the work zone.
