The Orondo Fire Department is proud to announce that Douglas County Fire District 4 has been re-rated to a Protection Class 6 for those properties within 5 miles of a fire station. The Department also received a Tender Credit for the ability provide water to areas that do not have fire hydrants.
The rating survey was completed by The Washington Surveying and Rating Bureau who inspected and evaluated the Orondo Fire Departments fire protection capabilities reviewing water supply; fire department apparatus, personnel and training; emergency communications; and fire safety control.
The departments prior fire rating was 7 and 9 depending on the station. A properties rating will be modified based on their location from a fire station and the available of water from fire hydrants.
Property owners should see a positive benefit from this improved rating during their next insurance renewal with the improved rating going into effect July 1, 2022.
This re-rating affirms the Orondo Fire Departments commitment to provide the best possible emergency services in a rural setting. Current projects to increase the departments capabilities is new fire Station under construction near the Beebe Bridge with addental improvements in our long-range plan utilizing the current tax structure.
