Match Recap: Chelan vs. Meridian (3-0 Chelan)
The Chelan Goats have earned the opportunity to defend their State Championship from 2019 as the result of an exciting 3-0 win over Meridian in Friday afternoon’s semifinal match. The match itself was much closer than the sweep might indicate as the Goats won a hard fought opening set 25-21. Chelan looked strong in winning the second set 25-18 and then were able to close out the victory with a tense 25-23 third set victory.
The win advances Chelan to the 1A State Championship match at 5 pm against perennial power Lynden Christian. The Lyncs bested Annie Wright 3-0 to join Chelan in the title match. Chelan won the last 1A State Championship played in 2019 while Lynden Christian won it all the year before in 2018. The two schools have met a number of times in state volleyball and basketball contests over the years.

Match Recap: Chelan vs. Lakeside (3-0 Chelan)
Chelan capped off an impressive first day of tournament play with another sweep of their opponent with a 3-0 win over Lakeside of Nine Mile Falls. Chelan had a tough battle in the opening set as they trailed at times, but fought back to win 25-21. The Goats played much better in the second set winning 25-11 and then clinched the match with a 25-16 win in the third set.
The most dominant player on the floor was Chelan’s Outside Hitter Olivia Strandberg as Lakeside had no answer for the power hitting Junior. The win by Chelan moves them into a 1 pm semifinal match against a very good Meridian Trojan team that advanced to the semi’s with a 3-0 sweep over Castle Rock. The other Saturday semifinal pits Annie Wright against Lynden Christian. The winners will meet for the State Championship at 5 pm while the losers will play for 3rd and 4th place at the same time. Good luck to the Goats as they try for another state title!

Match Recap: Chelan vs. Kings Way (3-0 Chelan)
The Chelan Goats swept their first opponent, the Kings Way Knights 3-0 in the opening match of the State 1A Volleyball Tournament. The Goats won by scores of 25-13, 25-9, and 25-13. Chelan had a strong all around team performance and had excellent serving from Morgyn Harrison and Olivia Stranberg, plus strong play at the net from Strandberg, MaKenzie Griggs, Ally Williams and Kira Sandoval.
Chelan will play again Friday evening in the quarter finals as they take on Lakeside of Nine Mile Falls. The Goats had a 3-1 win over Lakeside earlier this season. The winner of tonight’s game will advance to the semifinals tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m. If Chelan loses, they’ll drop to the loser’s bracket and play at 11 a.m. Their opponent, win or lose, with be either Meridian or Castle Rock.
