Road Construction & Maintenance: Week of March 22
information released
West Cashmere Bridge Replacement Project: With construction starting on the new bridge’s fourth and final pier, businesses and residents on Goodwin Road in Cashmere will see increased truck traffic and construction activity. The final pier will consist of three 5-foot shafts that will go down about 60 feet into the earth near the south bank of the Wenatchee River. The work, which includes a cap that will support the steel structure of the future bridge, should take about 1 ½ months to complete. Over the winter, the county’s contractor, SB Structures, completed three of the four piers that make up the substructure of the new bridge.
Road District Maintenance
Seasonal Weight Restrictions: Seasonal weight restrictions remain on most county roads. District foremen are monitoring the roadways for any changes. Watch for updates on the Travel Alerts and Restrictions webpage, where the free permit application also is available. Applications must be in by 10 a.m. the day prior to traveling. If you are hauling freight on a Monday, the permit must be in by 10 a.m. the Thursday prior.
Maintenance plans may change with weather conditions or equipment difficulties. Visit the Public Works website, where the weekly road maintenance information is regularly updated. To minimize potential exposure to COVID-19 to staff and the public, Public Works is open by appointment only. Call 667-6415 for an appointment.
