Congratulations to Levi Jeffries and Luke Simmons
information released by Steve Burdick, CHS Music Director
Chelan High School Students Levi Jeffries (Flute) and Luke Simmons (Tenor Saxophone) auditioned and won seats in the Western International Band Clinic (WIBC) Honor Band. Usually this involves a 4 day weekend in Seattle rehearsing and performing with students from all around the globe including all US States, Australia, Canada, and many other countries.
This year they are enrolled in a 2 day online session of rehearsals, masterclasses, and performances by professional musicians and conductors. They will be participating in sessions on February 20 and 21 with many of the best music educators and performers in the country.
According to Burdick, Levi and Luke will be submitting individual recordings that are produced by Christopher Bill (famous YouTube Trombonist) and featured in a virtual band concert. Their recordings are due by February 28. Burdick indicated he will share the finished product when it is available.
“My only regret is that normally Vicki Hoffman, Bob Soost, and I get to hang out with these guys for 4 days in Seattle,” said Burdick. “Our music staff will be online with them as part of the directors clinics, but the in person part will be missed more than ever!”
