Commercial will air on Eastern Washington cable channels
Information released by Freedom Foundation
A television commercial critical of Governor Jay Inslee’s COVID-19 shutdown order begins airing this week on cable television channels in Eastern Washington. A news release from the Freedom Foundation states the commercial is intended to expose the damage the Governor’s edict is causing to businesses.
The commercial focuses on Slidewaters water park and features co-owner Robert Bordner. Slidewaters is represented by the Freedom Foundation in a lawsuit against the State of Washington. The Department of Labor and Industries closed the water park on July 20 and imposed a $9,000 fine after a federal judge denied a request for a temporary restraining order.
Slidewaters employs about 150 seasonal workers. Said co-owner Robert Bordner, “how is it possible in a nine-acre park that I cannot have anyone here in a safe manner. The only thing unhealthy about this situation is Governor Jay Inslee’s overreaching arm to shut us down”.
The Freedom Foundation has appealed the most recent court setback to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
