Take Hwy. 97 on the Douglas County Side of the Columbia River

This project removes lose, unstable rock at three locations along US 97A between Entiat and Knapps tunnel beginning May 20, with day long closures begin May 26. These day long closures are necessary to ensure the safety of the public and crew and expedite the work to reduce overall impacts to travel on this section of US 97A.
Closures will occur Monday through Friday from at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This closure schedule will be in place May 26 through June 15.
The slopes that have been identified for this work are located at the following locations on US 97A:
- Slope 1: milepost 217.62 to 217.68 between Entiat and the junction of SR 971/Navarre Coulee Road,
- Slope 2: milepost 219.80 to 219.90 between Entiat and the junction of SR 971/Navarre Coulee Road,
- Slope 3: milepost 224.09 to 224.13 between the junction of SR 971/Navarre Coulee Road and Knapps Hill Tunnel.
Lane shifts at Slope 1 and Slope 2 will also be necessary to allow for equipment staging. Lane shifts will remain in place 24 hours a day through the duration of work at those locations. The contractor will install these lane shift on May 20 – May 21, which will require one lane, flagger controlled traffic with delays up to 20 minutes.
