Letter asks for an exception to the State’s return-to-normalcy plan

On Tuesday, May 5th, Chelan County Sheriff Brian Burnett wrote a letter to Governor Inslee requesting an exception for the county in the state’s return to normalcy plan. Burnett is asking for Chelan County to be immediately advanced into Phase 2.

In his letter, Burnett cited the county’s low rate of infection, diligence on the part of residents to adhere to health and safety restrictions, and the need to save personal businesses and livelihoods in North Central Washington.

Phase 2 would enable businesses such as hair and nail salons, retailers, and restaurants to open, although under specific safety and occupancy regulations.
