Congratulations to Manson High School’s Caden Beazley

On Wednesday, The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association announced its WIAA/Wendy’s Athlete of the Week winners for Week 3 (Sept. 15-21).
Each week throughout the school year, the WIAA recognizes varsity athletes who exhibited an outstanding performance for the previous week (based off of nominations). All varsity level students in good academic standing at their schools are eligible to receive the WIAA/Wendy’s Athlete of the Week Award. Students may win the award once during any given academic year.
Nominations are open to athletic administrators, coaches, fans and members of the media, with a weekly deadline of Tuesday at noon PT.

Week 3 Winners
Gabe Schilz, Chiawana, Football (SR)
Schilz rushed for 129 yards on 15 carries and four touchdowns for the Riverhawks.
Katherine Peneueta, Heritage, Volleyball (JR)
The junior racked up 46 kills, 40 digs, and seven blocks in 10 sets against Tumwater, Mountain View, and Fort Vancouver.
AJ Dixson, Prairie, Football (SR)
Dixson threw for 362 yards and five touchdowns in the Falcons’ 56-14 victory over Black Hills. He also scored two rushing touchdowns for a total of seven touchdowns on the night.
Halee Stubbs, Hermiston, Volleyball (SR)
Stubbs had 66 digs on the week (Kennewick, Pasco, and Davis), including 37 against Kennewick. The libero also passed a 2.1 average in serve-receive.
Michael Martinez, Wapato, Football (JR)
Martinez put up five touchdowns and over 300 rushing yards last week versus Cashmere.
MaryAlice Mitchell, Washington, Cross Country (SO)
Mitchell led the entire race at their first SPSL league meet, claiming first place with a new Orting course record time of 19:28. Then three days later at the Fort Steilacoom Invite, she won the Silver Division race for the second-consecutive year with a personal-record time of 18:53 and 11 seconds faster than the next finisher.
Max Lagunoff, University Prep, Cross Country (JR)
Lagunoff won a race for the first time with a person record of 16:43 at a league meet at Lower Woodland Park, and then placed fourth at the South Whidbey Carl Westing Invite.
Kendall Moore, La Salle, Soccer (FR)
Moore found the back of the net eight times and had four assists in two league victories.
Caden Beazley, Manson, Football (JR)
Beazley had a complete game against Liberty Christian leading to a 50-30 win. He led the Trojan offense with 165 rushing yards on 13 carries and 54 yards receiving on two catches. The junior registered four first-half touchdown runs and also chipped in on defense with an interception.
Maryssa Peters, Toledo, Soccer (JR)
Peters scored 11 goals in three matches last week for the Indians.
Landen Bruce, Rainier Christian, Football (SR)
Bruce hit on 14 of 15 passes for 268 yards and six touchdowns against Mary M. Knight. He also had a catch for 84 yards and a touchdown, ran 11 times for 73 yards, had two 2-point conversions, and on the defensive side of the ball had 15 tackles and an interception.
Lily Richards, Three Rivers Christian, Volleyball (FR)
Richards combined for 57 assists and 19 aces on the week versus Northwest Christian, Yakama Nation Tribal, and Tacoma Baptist. She served 51 times and had only four errors.
