Chelan Celebrates Homecoming this Weekend
by Dennis Rahm
Defense rose to the forefront as the Chelan Goats picked up their second straight win of the season defeating visiting Warden 49-20 last Friday night at Sargent Field. The Goats held Warden to only 136 yards of total offense.
Head Coach Travis Domser said “that win was 100 percent because of our players effort and enthusiasm, our coaches did a good job of putting kids in the right places and our players did a good job of executing their jobs”. While the defense was stout, the offense also performed well producing 358 yards with 217 yards coming from the running game.
Chelan jumped out to a 14-0 lead, but Warden battled back and the game was 21-14 in favor the Goats at the half. Chelan would outscore Warden 21-0 in the fourth quarter to cruise to win and improve their record to 2-0. Running Back Julio Alatorre led the ground attack with 134 yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore Quarterback Reed Stamps played well and completed 9/14 passes for 141 yards. One Stamps throws resulted in a 50-yard td to Sr. wide receiver Kyle Jackson. The kicking game was also solid with AJ Martinez a perfect 7 of 7 on PAT attempts.
Chelan will try to keep the winning streak going as the Goats host South Whidbey this Friday night for Homecoming. The game will start at 7 p.m. The community is also invited to attend a special Homecoming Street Pep Rally this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in downtown Chelan.
