Lake Chelan Ladies Club Tee Time

You don’t see many articles about women in golf. Thank you for reading this one! You might have missed the fact that L.P.G.A. player Jin Young Ko shot par or better on 114 consecutive holes flying past Tiger Woods’ longest known bogey-free streak in professional golf. They don’t give a lot of press to women’s golf in general but it’s slowly changing. We’re hopeful and our little club is doing our best to promote women in golf. This is one reason we give scholarships every year to women athletes from Chelan and Manson. Those scholarships are mostly financed by proceeds from the Lake Chelan Ladies Harvest Invitational Tournament to be held next Thursday. Thank you to all of our local sponsors.
On Thursday, September 5th, our Chelan Team travelled to Leavenworth to play against the strong Wenatchee Golf & Country Club team. Playing for Chelan: Barb Rayburn, April Talley, Jan Artim, Candace Farnsworth, Carol Ferguson and Gail Peterson. They had a beautiful day and the course was in awesome condition. Point wise, they got beat but not badly; especially since they played against the incomparable Pat Terry and her teammates. Chelan remains in the #1 spot for net points and hopes to hold onto that spot for the last match coming up in October. They will play the women from Yakima Elks club and Wenatchee Country Club will host.
Meanwhile, back in Chelan, 14 players competed for Monthly Medal (low gross and net by division and fewest putts). This week’s results:
- Division 1: Low Gross First Place: Jaclyn Starr-Evans, 95. Low Net First Place: Linda Hahn, 75. Fewest Putts: Jaclyn Starr-Evans, 31.
- Division 2: Low Gross First Place: Joan Pierce, 102. Second Place: Janet Foyle, 104. Low Net First Place: Judy Johanson, 71. Second Place: Sherry Fisk, 77. Fewest Putts: Judy Johanson, 30.
- Division 3: Low Gross First Place: Karen Erickson, 106. Low Net First Place: Pam Zent, 75. Fewest Putts: Pam Zent, 31.
- Jaclyn Starr-Evans had the only birdie/chip-in on hole #10.
Due to the tournament next week, our next competition will be on September 19th. The competition will be Medal Play (Low gross and net of the field, low net by division). Our tee time changes to 9 am. Please check in by 8:30.
