Caption: On July 3rd, Gordon Rice celebrated winning the Most Net Birdies and Better 9, Front or Back, Less Half Handicap game competitions while playing with the Lake Chelan Senior Men’s Golf Club. Gordon is a retired plumber who lives in Manson. Dave Johnson is a New Member with the Senior Men’s Golf Club and he resides in Chelan. Dave is a retired engineer.
The Lake Chelan Senior Men’s Golf Club plays Wednesdays at the Lake Chelan Golf Course. Guests are welcome with no advance notice. The tee time is 8:00 AM.

On Wednesday, July 3rd the Senior Men’s Golf Club welcomed guests Dan Amsberry, Randall Goodlund, Doug Grout and Dave Johnson who joined the Members for regular play. After play, Dave Johnson decided to become a New Member of the Men’s and Senior Men’s Golf Clubs.
Approximately 40 golfers teed off at 8:00 AM from tee boxes ranging from Hole #14 through Hole #1 with a shotgun start format. Jim Oscarson and Mark Lawrence, with the Lake Chelan Golf Course, organize the shotgun start every Wednesday to allow for all the Senior Men’s Club Members to begin play at the same time.
Following play, Phil Clausen treated a large number of Club Members and Guests to a beverage to celebrate his Hole-in-One shot which took place on June 26th. Jim Storms announced Phil Clausen’s Hole-in-One shot details will be added to the Member Hole-in-One Plaque located in the Golf Course Clubhouse.

Photo Caption: Phil Clausen celebrated his Hole-in-One Shot with fellow Lake Chelan Senior Men’s Club Member, Mike Giffin and friends Dan Amsberry and Randall Goodlund. On June 26th, Phil scored a Hole-in-One on Hole #18 at the Lake Chelan Golf Course. On July 3rd, Phil treated club members and friends to a beverage in celebration of his Hole-in-One shot at CJ’s on the Course Restaurant located at the Lake Chelan Golf Course.
Matt Froman the 2019 Men’s Golf Club President informed the Senior Men’s Club Members there are still team slots available for the Men’s Golf Club Open Golf Tournament scheduled for July 20th and 21st. He shared with the Members the Open Golf Tournament is the Men’s and Senior Men’s Clubs primary fundraising event every year that supports Student Scholarships and the Chelan High School Boys and Girls Golf Teams. Scott Patrick, Dr. Darrell Richards and Eric Lorenz informed the Club they completed the 2019 Memorial Match Play Tournament pairings (17 Participating Golfers) and the Tournament Poster can be found in the Clubhouse Restaurant area. The Tournament is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, July 10th.

For the Most Putts Longer than the Flagstick competition, first place went to Bob Matson (4 putts) and Lyle Burns, Ray Wilson and Ellis Nierenberg tied for second place (3 Putts). The Better Front or Back 9 Holes Less Half Handicap competition winner was Phil Clausen (Score 30), Ed Holst was second (Score 32), John (Mr. VP) Hancock was third (Score 32.5) and Phil Stalcup, Gary Searle and Ed Ferguson tied for fourth place (Score 33). For the Most Net Birdies game, Gordon Rice and Bob Carleton tied for first place (8 Birdies), and Mike Giffin and Mark Babcock tied for second place (7 Birdies). The Closest to the Pin Second Shot on Hole #12 contest winner was Dave Jansen (Distance 5’ 4”) and Cliff House placed second (Distance 8’ 10”).
Multiple game competition winners this week included Dave Jansen (Putts, Closest to the Pin), Mark Babcock (Putts, Net Birdies), Bob Carleton (Better 9, Net Birdies), Gordon Rice (Better 9, Net Birdies), and Ellis Nierenberg (Putts, Net Birdies).
Guests and Prospective New Members are invited to join the Senior Men’s Golf Club (Age 55 and over) on Wednesdays and the Men’s Golf Club on Sundays at the Lake Chelan Golf Course. Both groups tee off at 8:00 AM. No advance notice is required to join either group for regular play on Wednesdays or Sundays.
