Funding and line of succession on the agenda
by Dennis Rahm
Future funding needs and a discussion of the line of succession for staffing of Chelan Fire and Rescue will be the major topics of discussion during a Thursday night public Town Hall meeting hosted by Fire District 7.
Fire District 7 commissioner Russ Jones gives more details on why the meeting has been scheduled.

Jones goes on to say it is likely there will be additional public meetings to discuss the future needs of the fire department. In April of 2018, voters soundly rejected a property tax Levy Lid Lift that would have resulted in a 43 percent increase in fire district tax collections. Regarding personnel, the retirement later this year of Chief Tim Lemon has resulted in a plan that would promote Deputy Chief Mark Donnell to head the department. The plan is to eliminate the Deputy Chief position and then retain Assistant Chief Brandon Asher as the next in line for the Chief position upon the future retirement of Donnell.
The Thursday night Town Hall meeting is scheduled from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Chelan Senior Center located at 534 East Trow Avenue.
