Chelan County Sheriff’s Office Helicopter responds to scene
information released
On June 22nd, 2024 at approximately 1539 hours RiverCom dispatch received a text-to-911 message stating there was a male unconscious and not breathing. Text-to-911 provides coordinates of the phone and it plotted near Colchuck Lake.
A Chelan County Sheriff’s office search and rescue coordinator requested a helicopter and King County Sheriff’s Office accepted the mission with a 1 hour ETA to the scene.
The reporting party on scene stated CPR was in progress. After approximately 45 minutes of CPR a person on scene reported the patient had not had a pulse or taken a breath for about 15 minutes. As a result of this information, Chelan County Sheriff’s Office took the mission instead and responded with a medic.
The CCSO Helicopter was able to transport personnel to the scene and found the hiker, a 19- year-old male from Massachusetts deceased. He was transported by helicopter to the Leavenworth Fish Hatchery and transferred to the Chelan County Coroner.
