The Community Foundation of NCW, through the Methow Valley Fund, has awarded $127,000 to 23 nonprofits. This annual grant provides $4,000 and $9,000 grants in core operating support for nonprofits serving the Methow Valley.

The Methow Valley Fund and the Methow Valley Endowment Fund were established to support local, charitable organizations, investing in social, environmental, cultural, and educational causes that make the Methow Valley a special place.

“Since 2006, the Methow Valley Fund has been awarding financial grants to local nonprofits who are meeting current needs and working towards a strong future for the Methow Valley. The fund has received many generous gifts and bequests from local residents, providing meaningful legacies and ensuring that future generations of Methow Valley citizens will have access to charitable resources to meet new challenges. We are honored to steward these gifts and partner with the nonprofits and the Local Advisory Board volunteers in distributing these resources,” said Beth Stipe, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of NCW.

The Methow Valley Fund Local Advisory Board, comprised of local residents, provide leadership and oversight by reviewing and determining grant award recipients.

“The Methow Valley Fund Advisory Board and Community Volunteers are inspired by the commitment and tremendous impact of our Valley’s nonprofits,” said Karen Nichols of the Methow Valley Fund Advisory Board. “We are deeply grateful for local community members who have chosen to support our work with their generous Legacy Gifts enabling us to award $127,000 this year in annual grants.”

The Methow Valley Fund represents a truly community-driven approach to philanthropy. From the donations that create the fund to the decision-making process that determines grant recipients, local Valley residents are involved at every step. This “by locals, for locals” approach ensures that funding decisions reflect the community’s own priorities and needs.
