March 19th is a FREE Day at Washington State Parks

In related articles, LakeChelanNow has indicated the importance of getting a Washington State Parks Discover Pass in order to access the numerous state parks in our region. These passes can be purchased through the DOL when you get your license tabs or you can order a pass online separately. It’s $30 for an annual pass or $10 per day.

Now we’d like to let you know about some really good news!

Washington State Parks offers several FREE days when a Discover Pass is not required to visit a state park. March 19th marks the 105th Birthday of the State Parks system. Celebrate with free entry and parking on these special days at any state park, including Lake Chelan State Park, 25-Mile Creek State Park, and Alta Lake State Park. Or venture a bit farther away from home and check out one of the many state parks in North Central Washington– like Steamboat Rock State Park or Pearrygin Lake State Park.

Here are the designated “Free Days” at Washington State Parks for the rest of 2018:

  • March 19 – State Park’s 105th Birthday
  • April 14 – Spring Day
  • April 22 – Earth Day
  • June 2 – National Trails Day
  • June 9 – National Get Outdoors Day
  • June 10 – Fishing Day
  • August 25 – National Park Service 102nd Birthday
  • September 22 – National Public Lands Day
  • November 11 – Veterans Day
  • November 23 – Autumn Day

For additional information, visit the Washington State Parks website:

Please note: free days apply only to day use – not overnight stays or rented facilities. A Discover Pass is still required to access lands managed by the Washington State Departments of Natural Resources and Fish & Wildlife on these days. Sno-Park permits are still required on free days at designated Sno-Parks during the winter season.
