Multiple Agencies Respond to Fire on Monday

UPDATED: 9:45 a.m., 9/3/19: Several vehicles, including as many as 9 cars and trucks, 3 RV’s, 1 tractor and a few utility vehicles all received significant damage in a Monday afternoon brush fire in the Washington Creek area north of Chelan.
LCN’s Dennis Rahm spoke with Chelan Fire and Rescue Chief, Mark Donnell, who indicated the cause is under investigation by the Chelan County Fire Marshall. Donnell also said there has been at least one previous fire at this same location.

Multiple agencies including Chelan District 7, Manson District 5, U.S. Forest Service, Department of Natural Resources, Douglas District 4, Brewster District 15, Entiat District 8 and Wenatchee District 1 responded with ground crews and equipment. A DNR helicopter provided air support, while adjacent private property owners used tractors to plow protective firelines. The approximately 10 acre fire was reported as contained at about 5:30 p.m.
Reports indicated at least one family was displaced and the Red Cross was called in to provide assistance. No injuries were reported.
