CHS Baseball, Boys Soccer, Track & Tennis

information compiled

It’s been a busy week so far for spring sports at Chelan High School with baseball, soccer, tennis, and golf all played under less than ideal conditions due to cold weather and even a bit of snow!

Baseball: Coaching staff reports on another win for the Chelan team ranked third in State. The Goats Baseball team picked up their 9th win of the season on Tuesday at Mountain Goat field against the Omak Pioneers. The Goats used a combination of three pitchers on the mound in the mercy rule shortened game. They responded by allowing only 4 hits, and striking out 11 .
On offense, the combination of the cold weather, and the crafty pitching from the Pioneers held the Goats to only 7 hits in the game.  Noah Loew, Reed Stamps, and Ethan Strandberg each had 2 hits, and Braiden Boyd smashed his first home run of the season, a towering blast over the right field wall.
Next Up:  Thursday at Mountain Goat Field vs Brewster Bears with first pitch at 4:30.

Boys Soccer: Coach Juarez reports Goats win in shootout vs Cashmere 4-2.

PK scorers in order: Juan Pablo Perez, Alven Espana, Edwin Avila, and Javier Barajas. Keeper in Shootout Miguel Zarate 1 save. “Lalo” Molina also had a good game with a few key saves during regulation.

The game was originally scheduled at Cashmere, but was switched last minute making this coming Saturday’s home game vs. Manson our Senior night. Varsity will start at 4pm on Saturday with JV following.

Track: Unofficial recap from the Brewster Relays from Coach Alexander.

Chelan track team had a strong performance right out of the break. This track meet was designed to have teams of two that consist of one boy and one girl on each team for the throws and teams of 4 for relays. We had two thrower relays take 1st and 2nd place. This was their first time running a relay so I am very proud of the work that they have put in. The thrower relays are below.

Rachel Benson 100 – Girl Aliyah Finch
Emileo Barajas 100 – Boy Dom Solorza
Penelope Harden 100 – Girl Peyton Bodle
Alonso Benegas 100 – Boy Jason Pritchard
Jason Pritchard took first place in the javelin with a throw of 124 feet. Peyton Bodle had a throw of 85’6 (Do not know the place). Emilio Barajas: Freshman had a PR in the shot put with a throw of 31’6
This is a fun group of kids to coach. They come to practice every day ready to work. They continue to get better and are very coachable. We have a great coaching staff and the kids are buying into our program.
Tennis: Cashmere at Chelan recap from Coach Rothlisberger.
It felt like a February tennis match, snow flakes and all.  Despite the early season feel, this match actually concluded our first lap through the CTL.  Both the Chelan boys and girls teams have managed to stay undefeated in league play (4-0), but it has been by no means a dominant lap.  We’ve had to eke out many of those victories.  So, I’m proud of our kids for being clutch, and winning the big points and big games when it mattered most.  However, we’ve also earned a bull’s eye on our jerseys, and we know that we now face a bunch of motivated CTL teams in lap #2 who probably feel like they have a shot to beat us.  We need to keep improving.
