Lake Chelan Valley Habitat for Humanity is extremely pleased to report receipt amounts as of Dec. 22, 2021 from Manson’s Red Apple and Chelan’s IGA stores 1% Donation Program. Manson’s grocery store receipts totaled $12,500; Chelan’s were $23,867. One percent of those totals go to Habitat to build homes with partner families.

Chelan’s IGA owners Tony and Trish Race of Chelan, and Manson’s Red Apple Market owners Eric and Marietta “Pete” Jacobsen of Manson’s store donate 1% or more of each receipt to Lake Chelan Valley Habitat for Humanity. Please thank them when you shop there.

Karen Feek, a Habitat volunteer of many years, collects receipts from the store or receipt box located outside Habitat’s Thrift Store located at 518 E. Woodin Ave. in uptown Chelan. It takes many hours for her to total donated receipts in increments of $1,000. She then turns them back into each store.  The store owners then send our local Habitat a check for 1% (or more) of the total receipts.

Since March of 2007, Habitat has been the recipient of the 1% program from these generous store owners. They have donated $8,894.53 from your grocery store receipts to help local working families buy a home.

Habitat and its Partner Families have built 19 homes so far.  Thank you for helping Habitat through such a simple act of thoughtfulness.

Here’s how you can participate:

Buy groceries at Chelan IGA or Manson Red Apple and ask for the receipt.

Put receipts somewhere safe (I keep an envelope in the glove box of my car) and bring them to the Habitat Store in Chelan.

You can hand your receipts to the cashier during store hours (Tuesday – Saturday, 10 am – 5 pm) or put the in the drop box outside the store anytime.

Your receipts = local homeowner opportunities.
