Chelan Announces Student-Athletes of the Week

Submitted by CHS Athletic Director, Rob Rainville

Coaches nominate individuals for outstanding effort and participation. CHS is pleased to recognize this week’s Chelan Student-Athletes of the Week, and present the nomination write-up from their coaches.

Each student-athlete winner will be given a Lakeview Drive-In gift card. We appreciate the generosity of Michael and Jamie Mack and the Lakeview Drive-In for their support of the Lake Chelan School District and Chelan Athletics.

Congrats to our Student-Athletes of the week. Thanks to all of you, for all your support, and we look forward to seeing everyone this week supporting Chelan Athletics.

GO PIRATES/GO GOATS!

Ashley Sams – Soccer

Ash has had a great season so far with two shutouts last week against Manson and Pateros. She played a tough game against Brewster which ended in double overtime and a shootout. Ashley had a save in the shootout which led the goats to a 3-2 win over Brewster! She has been playing with confidence and directing play on the field which has been huge for us this season. In addition to her playing, Ashley is one of the three captains this season and has been a leader and role model for the other girls on and off the field.  We are thrilled with her performance so far this season, and look forward to the games to come. Go Goats!  – Coach Williams

Luke Simmons – MS XC

This is Luke’s 3rd year on the middle school team and he has really stepped up as a leader this season.  Luke shows up and works hard at every practice and is a great role model to his younger teammates.

We look forward to watching Luke grow as a runner in high school cross country next year! – Coach Polley

Congratulations to Nominees. Here’s what your coaches had to say about your hard work and extra effort.

Erin Hatherell – Cheer

Erin came into the season brand new, but eager to learn. She expressed early on that she wanted to be a flyer for a stunting group but had no knowledge of what that would entail. Rather than giving up when the first stunt group wasn’t successful, she jumped right in with a new group, and then a third group. No matter how many times she would “fall” she would say “let’s try it again!”. She proved what hard work can accomplish as her stunt group performed perfectly at Friday’s game! – Coach Hanson

Xitlali Cruz – Volleyball

She was 100% serving in the Sun Dome tournament.  She also had 40 assists and 15 digs.  Xitlali played great defensively and had some amazing saves. – Coach Jen Rainville

Skyler Gordon – Football

Skyler compiled 2 sacks, was involved in 10 tackles, and 3 hit hurries on defense. Skyler gave up 0 sacks on offense and made crucial blocks on both scoring TD’s. Skyler was our leader of the essentials on defense and offense.  He played with great effort and enthusiasm all night, he won many one on one battles, and he was a discipline player all night as well. – Coach Domser

Teegan Silva – XC

She placed 5th out of all the Freshmen at the last event. She has a great attitude and works hard. Coach Anderson/Coach Fox

Ivan Duenas – XC

He had a great debut race at Shadle Park and continues to be a key runner on the team. – Coach Anderson/Coach Fox
