The Community is invited to a Quality Work Night on  November 13th

Submitted by School Staff & Parents

The Roots Community School will host an open house and “Quality Work Night” on November 13th at 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Students will showcase projects completed during the fall quarter and offer oral presentations to the public.

“As a project-based school, Roots incorporates publicly exhibited output as a capstone to learning,” says Rachel Robison, Roots Director of Education. “The Quality Work Night offers the venue for this public exhibition.”

The public is invited to view the presentations, meet the students, and walk through the Roots building. Now in its second year, Roots School offers a multi-age classroom environment spanning from kindergarten to fifth grade. Students work in three focused teaching groups defined by learning development, named the “Wolves”, “Bears”, and “Eagles”.

“It has been incredibly gratifying to join the Roots teaching staff”, says Kelsy Bordner, instructor of the “Bears” group. “I enjoy the flexibility of sending a student to another teaching group if he or she needs more challenge or support in any given area.”

“This type of student-specific attention keeps the kids engaged and excited about learning,” Bordner reports.

The school currently has thirty-six students and is accepting new students in the K-2nd grade age range. Enrollment is full for the 3rd to 5th grade age range. Parents interested in learning more about Roots are invited to attend the Quality Work Night on November 13. A visit to the school during school hours is also recommended.
