Event Honors Extraordinary People in the Manson Community

The Manson Chamber of Commerce held its Night to Remember on Wednesday, October 10. The evening included dinner, a silent auction, a dessert dash, the viewing of the Manson High School Drone Club’s video, and of course, the honoring of people who have made a positive impact on the community.

The Director of the Manson Chamber of Commerce, Debbie Conwell, said of the event: “We shine the spotlight on our businesses, schools, civic and social organizations and offer our sincere appreciation for all their hard work and contribution. The committee that made this night possible is an example of the excellence that represent what this night is all about. ”

Jeff Conwell served as the Master of Ceremonies. Honorees included:

Business of The Year – Lance & Sally Stark for Allison’s

Most Inspirational – Phyllis Coleman

Volunteer of The Year – Jeff Conwell, (presented by Todd Link)

Manson School District Blue and White Award Winners were presented by Manson Elementary School Principle, Keitlyn Watson.

Teacher of the Year – Diana Soliday

Classified Award – A tie between Robin Hanson, head cook at the middle/high school, and Jane Pratt, Paraeducator.

Student of the Year – Cody Amsden and was presented to proud mom and dad, Kevin and Mary Amsden.

The Kiwanis Citizens of the Year – Lorrie and Marty Cochran and was presented by John Haggerty, Manson Kiwanis Board member.

Manson Chamber Recognition Award – Manson Apple Blossom and presented to Jama England

Finally, Jeff Conwell highlighted some of the Manson Chamber of Commerce achievements the past year, which included sponsoring several promotions in Manson, receiving grants to help promote tourism, hiring the Chambers first Executive Director, Debbie Conwell, and working with the Leffler family to preserve Leffler Field as a park for Manson for all time!

The “Dessert Dash” not only provided a fitting topping for a great meal, it also added several dollars for the Manson Chamber of Commerce to use promoting the Manson Community.

The evening ended with a live auction for a week stay at a resort in Mexico donated by Lance and Sally Stark. Winning the bid and packing her bags was Launie Buck!
