Evelyn De Jesus recognized during Senior Night

Manson hosted Waterville-Mansfield on Saturday and won a hard fought 4 set match to finish the regular season.

Set scores were 22-25, 25-20, 28-26 and 25-19.

Saturday also served as Senior Night for the one and only Evelyn De Jesus, who plays Middle Blocker for the Trojans.

Evelyn and her parents were recognized for their years of dedication to athletics at Manson High School ahead of what was Evelyn’s final volleyball match on the Trojan home court.

Evelyn went on to play a great match, ending the night with 11 kills, 1 block and picked up 8 digs for the Trojans.

More Stats:

  • Maycee Ward had a stellar night- racking up 18 kills and 6 digs.
  • Other highlights came from Josephine Thompson with 11 kills and 5 digs; Kendall Petre added 7 kills and Barbie Espinoza had 5.
  • Libero, Melanie Marin picked up 10 digs on the night and hit 100% in her season debut behind the service line at 4/4.
  • As a whole, the Trojans served 92%, Lauren Soliday served 21/21 (1 ace), Stefany Luna served 10/10, Evelyn De Jesus served 17/18(2 aces), Maycee Ward served 16/17 (3 aces), Josephine Thompson served 15/17 (1 ace) and Kendall Petre served 7/8 (1 ace).

Saturday’s win puts Manson’s record at 10-5 overall; 5-3 in league- a finish of 4th in league.

Up next, the Trojans (4th place) will play the 5th place team in league (Waterville- Mansfield) in a loser out match – with the winner advancing to the District Tournament in a fight for a spot in the 2019 State Volleyball Championship Tournament.

The match against Waterville- Mansfield will take place on Saturday, November 2nd at Brewster.

The Manson C Team played their final match of the season on Saturday against a tough Waterville JV team- and came up short in all 3 sets.

Set scores were 13-25, 11-25 and 18-25.

  • Behind the service line, Esme Estrada served 10/10 with 1 ace
  • Bryanna Harris served 6/6
  • Ava Reed served 9/11 with 4 aces.

On Saturday, Manson JV hit the road to Ephrata to take part in the Halloween Tournament.

The Trojans played fantastic, tough, team volleyball all day. The team finished 2nd in their pool after losing to Ellensburg in a tough fought, early morning game with set scores of 26-28 and 18-25. Manson went on to beat Othello with scores of 25-20 and 25-22; as well as Omak with scores of 25-17, 27-29 and 15-9.

Perhaps the Trojan’s best match of the day came in the Championship game against Eastmont. The Trojans lost the match in 3 sets with scores of 19-25, 25-13 and 7-15.

Highlights were plentiful throughout the day:

  • Maya Hannah finished the tournament with 23 kills and served 21/28 with 8 aces.
  • Esme Angulo finished the tournament with 10 kills and served 47/55 with an incredible 28 aces on the day.
  • Devan Regan had 8 kills and served 19/26 with 8 aces.
  • Sarah Simmons had 9 kills and served 20/25 with 9 aces.
  • Natalie Solorio had 6 kills and served 100%- 12/12 with 1 ace.
  • Jenny Juarez had 5 kills and served 10/14 with 4 aces.
  • Amy Marquez had 1 kill and served 19/22 with 4 aces.

Overall it was a great day of well played volleyball with many memories made. A fantastic way to wrap up their season- after finishing with a record of 11-2 overall and 6-1 in league.
