The Lake Chelan Boating Club recently awarded scholarships to four Chelan and Manson graduating seniors. Congratulations to this year’s recipients (pictured above left to right) – Lucas Gueller, Adeleine Torgeson, Alyssa La Mar and Cody Amsden.

Cindy Simmons, who provided LakeChelanNow with the photo and scholarship information indicated, “It’s so great that our club can support them. They are all amazing kids and will go far in life.”

The Lake Chelan Boating Club was founded in 1954 by a handful of local boating enthusiasts. Membership has grown to around 80 families who maintain docks and the waterfront clubhouse just downlake from Mill Bay Boat Launch, as well as land and cabins uplake at Lucerne which are leased from the Getty family.

The club’s primary fundraiser is the annual Poker Run, now in its 11th year. Always the 2nd weekend in July, the Poker Run attracts more than 50 high-speed boats who stop at 5 different locations along the lake to pick up a playing card. Winning hands earn cash prizes, but most participants are more focused on fast boats, outlandish costumes, and plenty of fun in the sun.

Registration for 2018 Poker Run is now open. Visit the Boat Club website for a 3-minute video from last year’s Poker Run.
