4th Set was the Battle of the Night

Manson hosted Lake Roosevelt Thursday and won the match in 4 sets. 

Manson came out slow in the first set— with a score of 1 point to Lake Roosevelt’s 8 before, the Trojans were able to find a groove.  Manson battled back and took control, winning set 1 with a score of 25-16. Lake Roosevelt fought back and took set 2 with a score of 21-25, but the Trojans game back with a win in the 3rd set; 25-20. 

The 4th set proved to be the battle of the night, and ended with a Trojan win; 28-26 to take the match. 

  • Junior Libero, Melanie Marin had a phenomenal night, racking up 39 digs for the Trojans. 
  • Sophomore, Josephine Thompson played fantastic, leading in stats with 27/27 serving (and 6 aces), 12 kills, 8 assists, 4 blocks and picked up 25 digs for the Trojans. 
  • Junior, Kendall Petre added 5 kills, 2 blocks and 12 digs. 
  • Senior Middle Blocker, Evelyn De Jesus, served 17/17 with 3 aces and put up 4 kills and 3 blocks while Sophomore, Lauren Soliday served 11/11 for the Trojans and added 7 assists. 
  • Freshman, Barbie Espinoza served 4/4 with 2 aces and added 2 kills for Manson. 
  • Stefany Luna served 6/7 in the match. 

The Trojans played tough, high energy volleyball, kept their composure and played as a team. 

It was a great night for Manson volleyball. The win puts the Trojan’s record at 2-0. 

In JV action- the Trojans won 2 sets to Lake Roosevelt’s 1. 

The Trojans dropped set 1, 22-25 before bouncing back and dominating sets 2 and 3 with scores of 25-15 and 25-8. The win puts the JV record at 2-0.

  • Some highlights on the match include Stefany Luna, who served 23/23 with 7 aces (including a string of 13 straight serves), added 8 digs and 2 kills. 
  • Sarah Simmons served 12/14 with 4 aces and 9 digs. 
  • Jenny Juarez added another 9 digs. 
  • Maya Hannah led the team in kills with 4 and added 5 assists. 
  • Devan Regan served 5/5 to help boost the Trojans. 

Up next: Tuesday, September 17 at home against Pateros.
