Very Heavy Rain possible across the Cascades late tonight through early Sunday Morning

Information released by the National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Spokane has issued a Flash Flood Watch from 8 p.m. Saturday through 8 a.m. Sunday for a portion of North Central Washington, including areas of concern in Chelan and Okanogan Counties.

* Showers and Thunderstorms will develop this afternoon across the Cascades. Late this evening through early Sunday morning showers will become more widespread and the potential for heavy rain will Increase. Heavy rain in short periods of time will be possible, which will lead to Flash Flooding concerns.

* The main concerns overnight will be the burn scars as well as the deep canyons around Wenatchee, Entiat, Up Lake Chelan, along Highway 97 and the Methow Valley. Mud slides and debris flows are possible.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to Flash Flooding.

Flash Flooding is a very Dangerous Situation.

If you are traveling through or live in a vulnerable area, you should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action in the case that a Flash Flood Warning is issued.
