Information released by Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest

Are you keeping up on firewise efforts around your home? If you haven’t already done so, now is a good time to prepare defensible space around your home and neighborhood.

Above normal significant large fire potential is expected along the east slopes of the North Cascades, the Columbia Basin, the Palouse in eastern Washington, and southwestern Oregon in August and September. Outlooks for August suggest warmer than average conditions for much of the western United States, particularly the Pacific Northwest. Long-term drought continues to expand in western Washington, northern Washington along the Canadian border, and northwestern Oregon.
