Chelan County Listed as High Fire Level

Information and Image from NOAA-National Weather Service

Multiple counties in Washington and Oregon – shown on the map above – are included in an extreme fire weather watch for Friday. A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur.

Chelan County is listed as a high weather watch from 2 p.m. through 11 p.m. tomorrow. Winds are predicted to increase around 1 p.m. at 10-20 miles per hour, with gusts up to 30 through the afternoon and evening. Wind gusts and high heat, coupled with a relatively low humidity, contribute to critical fire weather conditions.

Officials warn that existing or new fires could spread rapidly, and wish to remind residents and visitors of the burn ban in effect throughout Chelan County and surrounding areas.
