Round the clock chip seal work on US 2 east of summit begins Monday

STEVENS PASS – A contractor for the Washington State Department of Transportation will spend three days chip sealing wheel ruts on US 2 east of Steven Pass starting Monday, July 26. At night, the contractor will broom the chip sealed sections. Work will occur between milepost 78 and 90, a stretch of the highway that includes Coles Corner.

Chip sealing operations will occur Monday through Wednesday from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. During daytime work, there will be flagger controlled traffic with delays up to 20 minutes. Beginning at 7 p.m. each night, the contractor will broom the freshly chip sealed sections. Overnight, travelers should remain alert for mobile brooming operations and shoulder closures. A reduced speed limit of 35 m.p.h. is in place until this work is completed.
