City has 120 days to study feasibility of purchase

The City of Chelan will move forward with a plan to negotiate for the purchase of approximately nine acres of undeveloped land at Spader Bay just east of the Lookout Marina.

There was a full house of area residents and property owners in attendance at Tuesday’s city council meeting. Most who spoke in the public session were against the land purchase.

The City Council, after a nearly two hour discussion on the matter, voted 4-2 to proceed with negotiating a 120 day purchase and sale agreement with an offer price of $400,000. The city would have the ability to back out of the purchase at any time and for any reason within the 120 day window.

At one time the property was listed for just over $2 million and recently was lowered to just over $1 million.
