information released
The City of Chelan has closed applications for the vacant City Council Position #1 and will move forward with candidate interviews during the regular City Council meeting on Tuesday, September 22 at 5:15 p.m. City Council is expected to make the appointment at the conclusion of the meeting.
The vacancy was created following the resignation of Councilmember Sanders. The selected candidate will serve until the certification of the next municipal election in November 2027. Community members are encouraged to attend to hear directly from the candidates.
A total of three applicants will be interviewed:
- Danny “Dan” Boone is a retired police chief with decades of public service experience who is seeking to bring his background in community leadership, public safety, and fiscal stewardship to the Chelan City Council. Having worked in tourism-driven communities like Chelan, Boone says he is committed to
preserving the city’s small-town character while improving communication between the Council and residents as the community continues to grow. - Jim Edinger is a Chelan business owner with more than 35 years of experience in property management, financial oversight, and community governance through the ownership and operation of J & M Management. Edinger says his background in budgeting, long-range planning, policy administration, and
collaborative leadership has prepared him to provide fiscally responsible, transparent decision-making while helping preserve Chelan’s quality of life and long-term sustainability. - Willie Jensen is a Washington-licensed attorney and Chelan resident who is seeking appointment to the vacant City Council position, bringing experience in law, business, compliance, and independent policy analysis. Motivated by a commitment to preserving Chelan’s small-town character and quality of life, Jensen says he is prepared to listen to community priorities, carefully evaluate issues, and provide pragmatic, collaborative leadership for the city’s future.
A fourth application was received but later rescinded by the applicant.
Residents are encouraged to attend the September 22 meeting at 5:15pm at City Hall to learn more about each candidate and the perspectives they would bring to the City Council.
