Lady Goats Need One Win for a Return to State

by Dennis Rahm

While basking in the glow of a league and district championship, the Chelan volleyball team is well aware there is still work to be done. After defeating rival Cascade last Saturday night to win the District 6 Championship, Chelan now must gear up for a winner to State match against Colville this Saturday afternoon at Chelan High School.

Last year Chelan finished fourth in State at the Sundome losing to Cascade in the semi-finals and to Lynden Christian in the match for third/fourth.

The 15-1 Lady Goats enter the CTL/NEA Crossover game as the number 1 seed from the Caribou Trail League while 11-6 Colville is the Number 3 seed from the Northeast 1A league. Colville advanced with a 3-0 victory over Medical Lake last Saturday.

Cascade and Omak play a loser out District 6 match this Tuesday at Cascade with the winner moving on to play Lakeside this Saturday in another winner to State match. Lakeside is the number 2 seed from the NEA and lost to Freeman last Saturday in their District Championship which earned the Scotties a trip to State. Like Chelan, Freeman is 15-1 and is the only team to defeat the Lady Goats this season.

The Chelan versus Colville Regional contest will start Saturday, at 1:00 p.m. at Chelan High School.  Since this is a post season event, no passes will be accepted.
