Chelan High School baseball Coach Dana Papasedero has penned a heartfelt letter to the players, parents, alumni, administrators, fans and boosters of the Goat baseball program.

“With the WIAA decision to cancel the 2020 baseball season, I feel compelled to offer of few thoughts and reflections on the issue. My first thought was of disappointment, then anger, then eventually of sadness.

After considerable soul searching, my focus evolved to consider not what we have lost, but more upon what we have gained. Like thoroughbreds waiting in the starting gate, we were chomping at the bit, ready to go………….ready to win the race!

Alas, that was not to be, the race taken from us by conditions purely out of our control. I do have feelings of sadness, but also reflect on the great memories I’ve shared with our four graduating Seniors. Connor Wilson, Brennan Moody, Cade Christopherson, and Breckin Sporseen. They, along with the 2019 graduating class, were the athletes who worked tirelessly to propel Chelan Baseball into state prominence.

We don’t know how the 2020 season would have played out, but with those four on the field, I surely liked our chances. They all had a hand in the legacy that is now Chelan Baseball…..and serve as a springboard into the future. The 2021 season will come, with new faces, new positions, and new heroes in the making.

Lastly, I would like to thank my assistant coaches, our volunteers, and our boosters, whose disappointment in this lost season is only surpassed by my own. Baseball will return, and we will be as strong, if not stronger, in the seasons to come. This result is made entirely possible by the legacy created by some of the finest young men I’ve ever had the pleasure to be associated with.”

GO GOATS!!!
