Last Saturday, the Chelan Cross Country team traveled to Arlington to compete in the Hole in the Wall invitational. Over 5,000 runners from around the country and Canada raced in the state’s largest meet.

For the boy’s Freshman/Sophomore 1 race Cash Walsh edged Hunter Shumway, both earing personal bests. In the boys JV 1, Ringo Renteria in his first year on the team led the boys in his best race of the season. Lizzie Knight and Lana Fielding both earned personal bests for the season in the Girls JV race.

Both boys and girls Varsity teams were split between two races each. In the boys Varsity 2 race Logan Lemings led while Chris Knight once again led the boys Varity 1 proving to be one of the most consistent runners on the team. Emilie Barnes continues to improve from an injury racing in the girls Varsity 2. The dynamic duo of Teegan Silva and Mireya Garibay continues. They raced side-by-side continuing to prove they are two of the top runners in the league.

Ringo Renteria earned athlete of the meet. He had a break-out race. Ringo pushes each workout at practice. As a first year runner, he continues to improve with a good attitude daily.

Mireya Garibay is one of our most consistent athletes. Every week she places in the top half of the races. She is a quiet leader on our team who improves every week.

The next race is the Oroville Invitational Friday October 18th at Osoyoos State Park. For complete results go to athletic.net
