Omak takes boys’ team honors despite impressive play by Miles Grossberg

Chelan hosted its first ever “pod” of the regional 1A schools Tuesday on a beautiful mild and sunny day with several very challenging pin placements on the greens!
Chelan senior Miles Grossberg turned in an impressive 7-over par 79 today, leaving the rest of the boys field far behind. Teammate Joey Gasper (jr) struggled on the front nine holes but turned in a 3rd place tying score of 89.  Omak took the team honors with a 390, besting Chelan by 3 strokes.

On the girls side, only Quincy was able to field enough for a team score (532), with medalist honors going to Omak’s Halle Richter.  Chelan first-time golfer senior Elly Collins turned in a 3rd place 115 (only missing out on 2nd place by 1 stroke) and continues to show improvement with each match.

I also need to commend Chelan senior JD Gonzalez for coming out and playing nine holes with just one hand, as his other hand, broken in his last football game with Cashmere, is still recovering from surgery and unable to be bent.  Thanks for your hard work JD!

Chelan’s next outing is a tri-match in Quincy on Thursday along with Cascade.
