Congratulations Kayla Alcazar and Miguel Neri

Submitted by CHS Athletic Director, Rob Rainville

Chelan Middle School / High School would like to acknowledge our Chelan Student-Athletes of the Week Nominees and the Student-Athletes of the Week Winners.

Each week, coaches nominate student-athletes from their programs that they feel are deserving of recognition based off their performances, as well as demonstrating what it means to “BE A GOAT” or to “BE A PIRATE”.

Being a “GOAT” or a “PIRATE” means competing in a Chelan uniform, using our CORE VALUES, and representing our school and community at the highest level.

Each Winner will receive a Free Pizza from Westside Pizza.

We would like to thank Will Kandlik and Westside Pizza for their continued support towards Chelan Athletics and the Chelan Student-Athletes of the Week program.

Congrats to our nominees and winners this week, and thank you for supporting Chelan Athletics.

Please get out and support the GOATS! and the PIRATES!

GO PIRATES!  GO GOATS!

Kayla Alcazar- MS Girls Basketball

Kayla has been putting in the extra efforts both offensively and defensively. She hustles in all aspects of the game and puts forth tremendous effort in practice. Kayla was assigned the job of guarding IRMS point guard and did a terrific job of containing her.

Kayla is putting in the effort in the classroom as well which depicts what a student-athlete should emulate.  Congratulations Kayla. – Coach Reister and Coach Huddleston

Miguel Neri- Wrestling

Miguel helped seal big wins against Cashmere and Okanogan at our home CTL double dual. He also claimed first place at the Okanogan tournament.

Miguel continues to improve each week and we appreciate his efforts for the team.  – Coach Jordan

NOMINEES

Ella Tschetter-Cheer

Ella took over as a leader the last couple of weeks and has done a great job! She is a fantastic leader! She has a kind heart and genuinely cares for everyone on the team. She encourages her teammates and helps wherever help is needed. She is so creative and it shows in all that she does. Keep up the great work Ella! – Coach Simpson

Beau Nordby- Girls Basketball

Beau had 20 points against Okanogan and 13 points against Cascade.  Beau scored her 13 points against Cascade in only 2 quarters of play.  She is often found battling for rebounds on both ends of the court. Beau has really been working hard in practice and challenging other players to make herself and her team better. Beau has taken time to study the offense and learn the various movements of the positions. Beau’s attitude has improved all season long and all the coaches have commented on what a competitive athlete she has become.  Off the court, she often times has the team in laughter.  Beau had a great week on the hardwood and has showed tremendous growth all season. –Coach Huddleston/Coach Longmire

Drake Bird- Boys Basketball

Drake is a tireless worker who refuses to give anything but his best effort.  As a junior he has etched himself into the Goat’s starting lineup with his hustle and attitude.  Drake plays multiple sports.  He always puts team success over individual accolades.  Players and coaches around the CTL know what they’ll get when they compete against Drake… a never quit, never let up attitude that will serve him well in all his future endeavors.  Chelan Basketball is lucky to have a player like Drake Bird.” Coach Pearl

Dulce Medina- MS Girls Basketball

Dulce has been one of our most improved players since the beginning of the season.  She comes to practice every day ready to be a better basketball player!  She takes every challenge head on and with a positive attitude.  She is determined to play good, aggressive defense and score points for her team. She is a great teammate, always cheering for her team whether in the game or on the bench.  We are so proud of her commitment to improve in all areas of the game.   –Coach Gleasman and Coach Haerling

Jazmine Banuelos- MS Girls Basketball

Jazmine, although quiet on the court and in practice, has made huge strides in just our first few weeks of play. Jazmine knows where she is supposed to be at all times and what her assignment on the court is. Jazmine is on time to all practices, gives her all, and has consistently performed for the B team. Jazmine is also performing high in all her classes. Great job Jazmine!
