LCN has added a Lifestyle Story Category

by the LCN Team

Lake Chelan Now is proud to introduce a new story category that will showcase the people, places and activities that define life in the Lake Chelan Valley. This, along with a few other changes will give you additional opportunities to contribute to, and interact with, Lake Chelan Now!

Introducing the “Lifestyle” section!

The new Lifestyle section will feature articles about food, wine, events, people and recreation, and we’re soliciting submissions from all of you! We launched this new section with a guest column written by Winemaker Judy Phelps (Hard Row to Hoe) and a feature on a miracle baby and her family. Other upcoming articles in process include an interview with a virtuoso violinist and a look at local culinary arts.

There are many gifted writers in this community who will be encouraged to serve as guest columnists and contributors. We’ve included the “Guidelines for Submissions” below and we look forward to hearing your ideas.

What’s Happening NOW

We are also adding a weekly audio broadcast featuring upcoming local events including live music, festivals and other activities. The “What’s Happening NOW” broadcast feature will be found on our Lifestyle page.

We’ve also shifted some menu items to help you find content more easily

  • The Events Calendar is now a pull-down under Lifestyle
  • Web Cams and Lake Level links are pull-downs under News
  • Live Broadcasts and the Making Waves Talk Show are pull-downs under Listen

Remember you can always use the search bar at the top of the page to get you immediately to the story or feature you are looking for.

Guidelines for Lifestyle Submissions

Lake Chelan Now will now accept story submissions from guest columnists and writers for the Lifestyle section of our website. Articles should reflect an element of the Lake Chelan Valley lifestyle – which may include geographic, historical, cultural, personal, recreational, culinary, or other relevant topics. Byline and photo credit will be given to the writer/photographer.

Articles should generally contain between 500 – 1,000 words. The majority of the content should be original, although outside resources may be cited if they contribute substantially to the story. Articles may be submitted as a word attachment or within the body of an email.

Each submission must be accompanied by up to five un-cropped, royalty-free photos with at least one in a horizontal format to be used as the feature image (750 x 1000 pixels). Each photo should contain an identification or illustrative caption. Photos should be sent as a .jpg attachment.

Lake Chelan Now reserves the right to decline submitted stories or to edit accepted stories for space and format.

Submissions and photos should be emailed to loni@lakechelannow.com.
