Chelan is well represented in CTL Fall sports awards

The Caribou Trail League has released its All League Awards for the Fall sports season and Chelan athletes are well represented.

Volleyball: The CTL and District champion Lady Goats claimed Player of the Year, Coach of the Year and a total of five first team selections as well as two others on second team.

Senior Lexie Gleasman was named the league Player of the Year while juniors Emma McLaren and Leanna Garfoot were also selected first team along with sophomores Elly Collins and Xitali Cruz. Named to the  second team All-League were sophomore Katie Rainville and freshman Morgyn Harrison. League Coach of Year was awarded to Chelan’s Jenifer Rainville.

The Lady Goat volleyball team will host a playoff match versus Colville at 1pm Saturday with the winner of the contest qualifying for the State Volleyball Tournament.

Football:  The Chelan football team had two players earn first team honors with senior Skyler Gordon named at Defensive Line and junior Tobin Wier selected at Wide Receiver. Wier also earned a second team selection as a Defensive Back. Other Goats earning second team honors are senior Quarterback Quinn Stamps, senior Offensive Lineman Caden Bryant, junior Linebacker Johnny Ayala and junior Receiver Kyle Jackson.

The Goats will travel to Medical Lake Friday night for their final game of the season.

Cross Country:  In Cross Country, the Girls had two runners selected First Team All-League and the Boys had one.

For the Lady Goats, sophomore Mireya Garibay and freshman Teegan Silva earned the first team honor. Rosa Lopez Barboza was picked for the second team and earning Honorable Mention were Ashlyn Sanderson, Lana Fielding, Ella Polley and Emile Barnes.

On the Boys side, junior Chris Knight was named to the first team while Ezequal Campos, Logan Jennings and Ivan Duenas earned Honorable Mention awards.

Gariban, Teegan and Knight have qualified for the State Cross Country Championships this Saturday at the Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.

Soccer:  The Chelan soccer team placed senior Defender Maritza Blanco on the All-League First Team and Head Coach Marina Williams was named CTL Coach of the Year. Second team honors were earned by senior Midfielder Jade Hatherell and junior Goalie Ashley Sams. Sophomore Defender Aliyah Villasenor was selected Honorable Mention.

Congratulations to all the athletes and coaches who participated in the Fall sports programs at Chelan High School and Middle School and best of luck to those headed into post-season play.
