Information compiled by Dennis Rahm

Winter sport athletes are in the midst of a busy week as the holiday break for Chelan and Manson schools quickly approaches. The Chelan Wrestling Team participated in a double dual match Thursday night against Omak and Okanogan at Omak high school. The Goats lost a close first match to Omak, 29-28 and also lost to Okanogan, 42-36. On Saturday, the Goat wrestlers will be one of 12 teams participating at the Freeman Invite with action beginning at 10:00 am.

Chelan basketball is coming off a doubleheader sweep for the varsity teams earlier this week in Leavenworth as the Lady Goats defeated Cascade 51-44 and the Boys followed that with a convincing 80-59 win over the Kodiaks. The Chelan girls were led by Senior Ashley Sams who recorded a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds. In the boy’s victory over Cascade, Senior Connor Wilson led the way with 30 points. Both Chelan squads are now 3-1 overall and 1-1 in Caribou Trail League play. The next action for Chelan will be Friday night at Brewster with the Girls Varsity playing and 6 and the Boys at 7:30.

The Manson basketball teams have been idle since last Saturday night when the Lady Trojans lost to Waterville-Mansfield 71-22 while the Manson boys came up with a 72-46 win. The Trojan teams will be back in action this Friday hosting Liberty Bell with the Girls game scheduled to tip-off at 6:00 pm and the Boys game at 7:30 pm.
