As was mentioned earlier, the Chelan soccer team posted a dominating win on Thursday.  The Coaches report on the match is posted below.

“The Goats traveled to Warden this evening to take on the Warden Cougars.  Upon arriving we tried to acclimate to the field as the grass was long and the weather was a little humid.  The scoring was opened up early in the 7th minute with an outside shot from Irene Hernandez junior) with an assist from Madi Barker (sophomore). We continued to try and adjust to the grass length and scored our second goal in the 24th minute by Arden Paglia (junior) assist from Maya Cowan (sophomore).  We finished the half with a goal in the 38th minute from Irene Hernandez, assist Maya Cowan. Sending us to into the half with a 3-0 lead.

The teams half time discussion focused on the positives and negatives of the first half. As a group it was decided that communication and coming to the ball were going to be key in keeping the lead.  The ladies also made a goal to maintain the shutout and expand the lead.

It took the team 10 minutes into the second half to open up scoring with a goal by Irene Hernandez to complete her hat trick. From here the flood gate of goals opened. Quickly following Irene’s goal we saw goals from Jailyn Reinhart (sophomore) assist Madi Barker- 52nd minute, Arden Paglia- 60th minute, Kenia Sanchez (junior) assist Makayla Griffith (senior)- 73rd minute, Jailyn Reinhart- 74th minute, and closing the game was a goal by Aaliyha Espana (sophomore) with an assist from Makayla Griffith- 74th minute.

We were able to field all players who traveled with the team, which will offer invaluable experience for the team as our season progresses. All of the girls worked hard and we are proud of the effort and class they put into this game.

Next week the Goats will be traveling to Tonasket on Tuesday to take on the Tigers, followed by a home game on Thursday against the Liberty Bell Mountain Lions at 4:30PM at Mt. Goat Field.  Come out and support the Goats at home this Thursday!”
