See the boats up close Friday in Manson

The Lake Chelan Boating Club will be hosting their 12th annual Poker Run this weekend with 60 boats participating in another sold out event. The event is the clubs single biggest fund raiser and this year features a Beach Party theme.

Poker Run organizer Cappy Peterson says things will get underway Friday evening with a boat show starting at 6pm in downtown Manson. Peterson says the Friday boat show is a great opportunity for the public to come to town and get an up-close look at some pretty awesome boats and take part in other fun activities.

Participants in the run are treated to a Saturday morning breakfast at the Boat Club’s Manson clubhouse before making their way up lake to five card stops. They will gather for a club hosted lunch in Lucerne and then make their way back to Manson to turn in their poker hands and get ready for that night’s dinner and Beach Party costume contest.

Proceeds from the annual event benefit several local programs and organizations. With about half the money raised coming from sponsorships, Cappy says he really appreciates the community support the Poker Run has received over the years.

If you’re out on Lake Chelan this Saturday you’ll likely hear a lot of Beach Boys or Jan and Dean music as the parade of boats begin to make their way up the lake starting at about 11:30 am.
