Greetings Students, Staff, Families, and Community Members:

I hope this finds each of you doing well and enjoying all that our tremendous community has to offer during the summer months. Personally, it is continually rewarding to see so many of our students out in the community serving a vital role in the successes of our local businesses and/or taking part in the numerous summer learning activities we are fortunate to offer, such as our MOE Summer STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) program and summer athletic opportunities!

Thank you to each of you who support our schools and students in so many ways, whether that be as a parent, a school staff member, or a community member. Your support makes a difference and is appreciated!

On July 1st I started in the role of Lake Chelan School District Superintendent after 3 years as Chelan Middle School Principal and 6 years as Chelan High School Principal. Myself, my wife Jenny, and our sons, Connor (20) and Isaac (17), absolutely love and appreciate our Lake Chelan community and all the opportunities available to students! For those of you who I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting or working with over the last 9 years, I look forward to getting to know you and your thoughts on our community’s educational systems. My personal educational journey has taken me to: the K-12 system in Newport, WA, to Washington State University for a bachelor’s degree in Social Studies with an English minor and a 4-12 teaching certificate, to Shadle Park High School in Spokane for student teaching experience, to the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ for a master’s degree in Teaching and Teacher Education, to the Grand Coulee Dam School District as a high school teacher, head coach, ASB advisor, athletic director, dean of students, and principal, and finally here to Chelan in 2013. Along the last 2 stops, I earned my principal credential (2011) and superintendent credential (2017) from Washington State University, Spokane.

We are very fortunate in our community to have such an engaged and passionate school board of directors. Last night at our board of directors meeting I had the opportunity to share with them a draft of my 100 day entry plan. I invite you to take a look if you are interested or visit the link at www.chelanschools.org. I welcome your thoughts and feedback as well as your ongoing discussions about how we serve our students in the Lake Chelan School District. PLEASE, do not hesitate to contact me at any time regarding your student’s education and/or our school district!

Respectfully,

Brad Wilson, Superintendent.   wilsonb@chelanschools.org
